From day one, I made it clear that hope is powerful and fragile. When false hope is given and later taken away, it can cause deep emotional harm and truly break a person. Saying, “I’m sorry the information was wrong,” does not undo that impact. The story I was told from the beginning has not matched up, and the changing details have made this even more painful. I truly hope the kind of false hope given to me is not given to someone else. I am not writing out of anger, but out of hurt and concern. Please reflect on the responsibility that comes with your words and the effect they can have on someone’s life.
